Celebrity Team

Each day of the Challenge will offer something new to the celebrity team, not only in terrain, but also in team structure. The celebrity team is made up of three 'anchors', Australian triathlete Craig Walton; 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medallist and 5000m champion, Craig (Buster) Mottram; and world champion cyclist Shane Kelly.

The fourth team member will be interchanged on a daily basis and taking up the spot will be:

Greg Crick (Former motor racing driver),

Daniel Geale (Commonwealth Games boxer),

Mike McKay (Oarsome Foursome rower, dual Olympic gold medallist),

Sid Taberlay (Australian mountain bike champion),

Brett Aitken (Olympic gold medallist, cycling),

Matthew Wells (Olympic gold medallist, hockey)

Alastair Lynch (Retired triple Premiership AFL star)

Craig Walton
Craig Walton is an internationally renowned Olympic triathlete, who has travelled the globe to compete at the highest levels. Walton's commitment and dedication has been well rewarded, winning bronze at the world championships and representing Australia at the Sydney Olympic Games. After being struck down with a rare strain of glandular fever, Walton is making his return to competition and recently won the 2006 Noosa Triathlon.

Shane Kelly
World champion cyclist Shane Kelly, is no stranger to track or road cycling having a string of international achievements behind him, however he will need to get used to a ride of a different kind - the mountain bike - as part of the Challenge. A large majority of the six-day course will see participants tough it out off-road - not something Kelly is accustomed to. Kelly said he's hoping it won't take him too long to adjust from his normal road and track riding conditions, to the cross-country trails and the challenges of mountain biking.

Craig Mottram
Also known as Buster, 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Craig Mottram is well suited to the Challenge, starting his athletic career as an Australian junior triathlon champion. However having refined his training in 1998 to focus on middle distance running he will need to dig deep to make the transition to multi-disciplines to get through the six-day race. Mottram said he is looking forward to getting back into multi-sport training and although he has experience in triathlon and competing at an international level, it's been a while since he really trained on a bike so the going will be tough.
