Spinvox, leading voice-to-text solutions provider, is proud to sponsor Team SpinVox in the 2006 Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge. An all female team, Team SpinVox is led by solo round the world yachtswoman, Dee Caffari and will be joined by Olympic medalist Helen Reeves, endurance athlete Rachel Cadmore and ex-army major, Victoria Wentworth.
Dee Caffari
Dee burst onto the sailing scene for the 2004/5 Global Challenge round the world yacht race when she was the only female skipper taking part. Following this Dee wanted to do something that would push her to the absolute limit both mentally and physically. No stranger to extreme conditions, Dee spent 178 days alone at sea sailing 29,100 miles as she circumnavigated the globe. Overcoming severe technical issues, sleep deprivation and loneliness, Dee defied the critics when, on the May 21 she sailed into the record books as the first female to circumnavigate the globe solo, non-stop against the prevailing winds and currents. www.deecaffari.com
Helen Reeves
Helen is Britain's most successful lady canoeist. In 2004 she made history at the Athens Olympics, where live on television she discovered that she had won the Bronze medal after initially being placed 4th - making her the first British female canoeist to win an Olympic medal. Helen will be a great help to the team when they take to the water in kayaks as part of the Challenge.
Rachael Cadman
Rachel is the youngest of the team; a recent graduate in sports science from Leeds Metropolitan University she is a 26-year-old female endurance athlete who earlier this year became the youngest Briton and woman to compete in the 180km ultra-marathon in the Libyan Desert. Her stamina and experience over long periods of time will make an important addition to the team.
Victoria Wentworth
Victoria served in the British Army for nine years, including service in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan and was awarded six operational medals in the process. Victoria also represented the army in pentathlon (shooting, running, show jumping, swimming, fencing), downhill skiing, rowing and cross-country, so is no stranger to the conditions the team will face in Tasmania. Adding to her already impressive credentials, Victoria also took part in the Millennium Expedition to summit the 18 trekking peaks in Nepal as part of an all-girl team.
